by your reckoning this is line 10 in my config file dude * Anyway it is time to go over this. It's hard to pick up at first, but hence he asks where to start . Drop the swearing it isnt big and it sure aint clever . Not everyone can pick up a .conf at first look and get it right even with the docs ....

There doesnt appear to be one so you have fallen foul in the section above line 10 or the section below . It is likely a : instead of a ; or a missing section close/open brace. Check your .conf now from the top and make sure you have no typos or missing braces . Sometimes unreal will muddle through ...

at a guess some fool fiddled with your .conf . it should be IRC.SERVERNAME.WHATEVER . As an example of what it ought to look like here is my ME block . me { name "irc.Our-chat.tk"; info "Our-Chat"; numeric 1; }; If you check your docs you will get a better understanding of the ME block . As for line...

make sure the filename in the unreal.conf matches up with the file in the directory , .conf = motd.blah dir = motd.blah.txt That wont match hence it doesnt load . IF you are using windows you need to save the file in notepad using Save As and specify the file type as "All Files" . Then it will save ...

The problem you face is a lot of clients allow you to turn off ctcp replys . THen your potentially banning users that have done nothing wrong . Just because a script doesnt ctcp reply doesnt make it hostile .

If you dont understand the .conf then you need to ask if your really up to running an ircd . Also think of your own security . You run a conf creator off a n oth...
