Ok, I understand the point of this, but still don't know why do I need some certificate (for example from CACert.org) for my IRCd. Is there any difference between connecting without some certificate and connecting with it? Is the encryption then different?

It seems that when you compiled, you specified .../unrealircd.conf instead of .../src/ircd (link to the ircd).

Erm, ok, I won't open another thread because my question is still about SSL. The thing is, what is SSL exactly used for? I've read the help file and I know that a SSL connection encrypts data and protects against scans, etc. but I mean, should everyone be able to use a SSL connection? I think I don'...

Configuring SSL

Hi, I'm trying to configure SSL ports on my network, I do the following: - I've added a listen block: listen 69.90.159.99:6697 { options { clientsonly; ssl; }; }; - I recompiled the Unreal with SSL support. Do I need anything else? Because by the moment it doesn't work (I'm afraid I need a lot of th...

What about people reporting the spammers? Hello Operator, <someone> sent me http://members.lycos.co.uk/iserver1/playboy.avi, ban him! Hmm, yes, that seems to be a problem, but that's the same when an user tries to report that someone sent him a query and pastes all the query. The problem of that is...

Thanks for sharing... I hope you don't get too many false positives because your regexps contain only the URI... I don't get any false positive. Most of those regexps contain "interserv", all the web spaces named interserv[0-9]+ are synonym of a trojan containing page. Don't worry, all of...

Oh, I forgot, another suggestion.. I think it would be better if someone could only activate +R mode if previously he/she had activated +r mode. I think it's absurd if someone wants only private messages from registered users when himself has not registered his nickname.

Suggestion for new versions

Well, I have not found a better place where to post that, so if it botters you, just move it to a better place. I've been thinking and maybe implementing my idea would be useful for next versions of Unreal. I've thought that: It would be good allowing IRC Operators to set any usermode on any user, s...
