It advertises the features supported by the server. The information is used by your IRC client so it knows what features are supported. Hence, removing them would be unwise.

Just a small note: this functionality will be in UnrealIRCd 4.0.12 by default (not yet released at time of writing).

For some reason nobody ever requested it on the bug/feature tracker. Which is a bit of a pitty, since if I had known about this feature back in 2012 I would have added it. I like it!

Yeah the codepage vs utf8 stuff is a hassle :(
Anyway, it shouldn't make any difference: SSL or no SSL. Probably the client is behaving differently (which client?), really doubt it's the server.

After a talk with BOPM/HOPM people we decided to standardize the "connecting" messages so they could be easier parsed by bots/programs. This also means that local connects and far connects now use the same format. In that process the port number was dropped.

May be worth mentioning that "/WHO -m z" and "/WHO +m z" can also be used to list non-SSL and SSL users respectively.

With action "warn" the message is not blocked.

But yes users see a warning message about their message being intercepted.
