Re: hebrew nicknames

Yeah the codepage vs utf8 stuff is a hassle :(
Anyway, it shouldn't make any difference: SSL or no SSL. Probably the client is behaving differently (which client?), really doubt it's the server.

Re: Client connecting:

After a talk with BOPM/HOPM people we decided to standardize the "connecting" messages so they could be easier parsed by bots/programs. This also means that local connects and far connects now use the same format. In that process the port number was dropped.

Re: [DONE] Command to list non-SSL/TLS users

May be worth mentioning that "/WHO -m z" and "/WHO +m z" can also be used to list non-SSL and SSL users respectively.

With action "warn" the message is not blocked.

But yes users see a warning message about their message being intercepted.

Warning about using 3rd party modules

Just a warning to everyone using 3rd party modules: While 3rd party modules can be a powerful tool, you should also realize that they can crash the IRC Server if they contain a coding mistake. Currently more than 90% of the crashes reported to UnrealIRCd are crashes in 3rd party modules or due to so...

Re: BOPM not working

I know it's not an answer to your question but I would just use blacklist { } blocks in UnrealIRCd if I were you.

Sure. To block DCC you have a number of options:
* deny dcc { } block
* setting and forcing everyone +T so no CTCP's are allowed
* spamfilter

Re: AUTOVOICE all users when join

If everyone gets it, then what is the point of having voice? :) It's also a little dangerous because case of a text flood you cannot set the channel +m to shut everyone up and resolve the situation. Or, to be more precise: you can set the channel +m but everyone (with voice) can still speak so it ha...

Re: Conneten with SSL port

Usually means a non-SSL user trying to connect on an SSL port.

Harmless in any case, that's why it's sent to the junk snomask ('j').

Re: Runs but wont connect

See this faq entry: FAQ: Unable to connect to IRC server (VPS/shell) From the post above I gather you followed step 1, 2 and 3. Did you check step 4? The firewall. To quote the FAQ: Check the firewall If you cannot connect by IP then you need to check the firewall of the server. Consult the document...

Re: Runs but wont connect

See this faq entry: FAQ: Unable to connect to IRC server (VPS/shell) From the post above I gather you followed step 1, 2 and 3. Did you check step 4? The firewall. It's very likely to be the problem. As for your telnet error, that is just because you need to 'telnet 127.0.0.1 6667' and not 'telnet 1...

You can enable this by setting user mode +W (/mode yournick +W).

You can also set this user mode in your oper::modes (see Oper Block).

Increased protection for UnrealIRCd websites (please report issues)

Like any website, we receive our daily share of scanners that scan the entire internet for vulnerabilities. We have also been the frequent victim of DDoS attacks for years now. More recently, however, UnrealIRCd is becoming the victim of targetted attacks as well, with thousands of hack attempts per...
