UnrealIRCd 4.0.18-rc2 available for testing

The second Release Candidate for UnrealIRCd 4.0.18 is now available for download. This fixes an issue in 4.0.18-rc1 with SSL/TLS (ECDHE not enabled on older OpenSSL versions). Other than that it is identical to the first release candidate: Improvements: Support for checking IPv6 addresses in DNS bla...

Re: Spamfilter action

We do this so you cannot abuse the spamfilter feature to turn it into a spy feature.

Re: Build errors

If you have the same problem with UnrealIRCd 4.x then feel free to report the issue on https://bugs.unrealircd.org/ and it will be looked at.

For 3.2.x you will receive no support as it is end of life.

UnrealIRCd 4.0.18-rc1 available for testing

The first Release Candidate for UnrealIRCd 4.0.18 is now available for download. UPDATE: there's now a newer second release candidate . Improvements: Support for checking IPv6 addresses in DNS blacklists. The blacklist module now checks WEBIRC users as well. For SSL/TLS we now set the default ECDH(E...

Re: UnrealIrcd: Please get proper reverse DNS

It has been quiet for some time now so I've disabled the rDNS requirement. Please note that if the attacks starts again then I may have to re-enable the restriction(s) to keep #unreal-support workable. As for the question posed earlier: yes we do run antirandom, connthrottle, use various DNS blackli...

IPv6 support on *.unrealircd.org

Since Amazon offers IPv6 nowadays the www.unrealircd.org, forums.unrealircd.org and bugs.unrealircd.org sites are now IPv6 enabled and we publish AAAA records for them. As for IRC, both servers now support IPv6 (previously only one). If you encounter any problems because of this change, let me know.

Always use unrealircd.org

Some people still use the unrealircd.com or unrealircd.net domains. Today I've dropped all subdomains (except www) of those. This means that for example irc.unrealircd. com will no longer work. Use irc.unrealircd. org instead. As said, the domains with and without www will still redirect to www.unre...

Re: IRCop without privileges

Every oper block needs the "operclass xxxxxx" where xxxxxxx is the name of an operclass { } block. Many people set this to netadmin-with-override or similar to have a lot of privileges but the system is very flexible in the sense that you can also give minimal and very specific privileges. In any ca...

Re: kline and gline commands not found

What does it say? Unknown command? Sometimes the client is interpreting the command so you may want to double check with '/quote gline' or '/quote kline' - you should see end of /STATS report. If that still gives "command not found" then likely the m_tkl module isn't loaded. It is included in the mo...

Re: Linking Problem - No autoconnect

Strange. Your config looks fine to me (without the number, that is). There are many people (possibly everyone with a network) using SSL and autoconnect and this is the first time I hear about a possible issue. If you are still experiencing the issue and you think it's a bug, then feel free to report...

Re: How to setup rights in unrealircd as I want?

I can see how your /OPER block may not work indeed with those characters. That has to do with the different character encoding (UTF8 vs latin1). Technical stuff, but yeah: best to avoid those characters and stick to normal (latin) letters and numbers. I've updated the documentation . You also had a ...

Re: WebIrc secure implementations and it's fails

I'm sorry to say but so far you have said nothing that we had not considered. Including the last "to bypass security" argument, see https://github.com/ircv3/ircv3-ideas/issues/12. It came by in the discussion that we had with client devs and server devs and we considered it. We just weigh things dif...

Re: WebIrc secure implementations and it's fails

I doubt my post will in any way change your feelings, but I just want to mention our position anyway: We did this to prevent users showing up as "secure" when they are in fact communicating over an "insecure" channel like HTTP (not HTTPS). As mentioned in the release notes: * UnrealIRCd will no long...

Re: anope ./services (no such file or directory )

You may be better off trying support at anope.org (IRC or the forums). And/or find a friend or someone you know that is more familiar with Linux/*NIX.

It's fine to post your question here (like you did), but you should have more success there. After all, it's their product.
