Re: Conneten with SSL port

Usually means a non-SSL user trying to connect on an SSL port.

Harmless in any case, that's why it's sent to the junk snomask ('j').

Re: Runs but wont connect

See this faq entry: FAQ: Unable to connect to IRC server (VPS/shell) From the post above I gather you followed step 1, 2 and 3. Did you check step 4? The firewall. To quote the FAQ: Check the firewall If you cannot connect by IP then you need to check the firewall of the server. Consult the document...

Re: Runs but wont connect

See this faq entry: FAQ: Unable to connect to IRC server (VPS/shell) From the post above I gather you followed step 1, 2 and 3. Did you check step 4? The firewall. It's very likely to be the problem. As for your telnet error, that is just because you need to 'telnet 127.0.0.1 6667' and not 'telnet 1...

Re: Show when user does /WHOIS (Unrealircd 4.0.10)

You can enable this by setting user mode +W (/mode yournick +W).

You can also set this user mode in your oper::modes (see Oper Block).

Increased protection for UnrealIRCd websites (please report issues)

Like any website, we receive our daily share of scanners that scan the entire internet for vulnerabilities. We have also been the frequent victim of DDoS attacks for years now. More recently, however, UnrealIRCd is becoming the victim of targetted attacks as well, with thousands of hack attempts per...

Re: Crash issue in UnrealIRCd: apply hot fix ASAP or upgrade to 4.0.11

For those interested, I've posted an analysis of the bug, the fix and how exploitable it is on my new blog: Buffer overflow issue in UnrealIRCd, despite use of strncat.

Crash issue in UnrealIRCd: apply hot fix ASAP or upgrade to 4.0.11

UnrealIRCd versions 4.0.8 - 4.0.10 on *NIX can be crashed by a remote user. This is due to a buffer overflow issue. The issue is actually present in all UnrealIRCd versions but because the data overflows into unused variables after the buffer previously went undetected and caused no harm. UnrealIRCd...

Re: Change ssl certificate

You can generate a new certificate by doing the following from your unrealircd sources directory (eg: /home/syzop/unrealircd-4.0.10 )... To generate the certificate: make pem Then manually copy the necessary files (server.*.pem) to your conf/ssl of your installed unrealircd directory. In this exampl...

Updated UnrealIRCd 4.0.10 for Windows

LibreSSL, the library we use for SSL/TLS on Windows, has released an update. There seemed to be a security issue in the way they implemented ECDSA. This is only an issue if you use elliptic curve certificates, not if you use RSA certificates (=the default). We have replaced the Windows download of U...

Re: Help me With running the server

I think the comments from Stealth and Eren24 are good ones. You should really stop and who you trust before you let them install your server. So: Sure, ask other people's help with your configuration file, problems you run into, documentation you're looking for, etc. But don't give them shell access...

Re: Angrywolf modules

You can use the following construct to loop through all local clients:

Code: Select all

list_for_each_entry(acptr, &lclient_list, lclient_node)
{
    ...do your stuff here...
}

Re: upgrade done but keeps starting v 4.0.7

You must have an installation of 4.0.7 around somewhere, in a different location or under a different user account.

You can use "./unrealircd version" to see the version of UnrealIRCd in that directory (this won't start UnrealIRCd, just display the version).
