Re: Unexplained shutdown of unrealircd 4.2.4

In some cases no core dump is created. These are rare cases though, such as: out of memory or other limits imposed by the system administrator.

Often the kernel will log such a fatal signal, so you can still see some message about unrealircd in /var/log/messages or /var/log/messages.1

UnrealIRCd 5.0.5.1 released

Unfortunately we had to release a fix 2 days after 5.0.5 release. This reverts the previously mentioned UTF8 support in Spamfilter. The reason for this is that there is currently a bug in the PCRE2 regex library which causes the IRCd to hang/freeze on certain regexes, in particular ones which use ()...

Re: Clones Spamfilter Bots

Great :) can i post a code to stop proxies, eggdrop, etc? I would like to help the community too and tell them about my experience, where can I publish my work? You mean tips and spamfilters and configuration settings right? Yes, that is exactly what this forum is for. Just post it in this forum "Sp...

Re: Clones Spamfilter Bots

As for spamfilter, the nick minus the last two character comes back in the ident/username, that should be something one can write a spamfilter for. Try this:

Code: Select all

/SPAMFILTER add -regex u kill 0 spambot_detected ^([a-z]+)[a-z]{2}!\1@.*

Re: Clones Spamfilter Bots

Just a general solution (not really an answer to your question). Are you using blacklist blocks ?
See https://www.unrealircd.org/docs/Blacklist_block under Examples. Add those to your unrealircd.conf and REHASH.
Of course, chances are high that you are already using them :)

Re: Unreal5: Channel History and channel blowfish encryption

This whole fish thing looks like junk and insecure to me, I mean CBC... encrypting the same plaintext to the same ciphertext every time? Seriously? Anyway, just to let you know someone else mentioned it and it turns out if you unload the server-time module, eg: blacklist-module "server-time"; ...the...

Re: i cant connect to my server Connection timed out

k4be is correct, this is a network configuration issue, the connection is stopped before UnrealIRCd even had a chance of handling it. So it is a firewall or router issue.

Re: Unreal 5 SSL error

Right, so you are using modern settings (you have disabled TLSv1.0 and TLSv1.1). What client are you using? Possibly your client is too old? Like an mIRC version from several years ago? Another way to trace this is to look on the IRCd side. If an IRCOp on the IRC server sets the eyes and junk snomas...

Re: configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH

You need to install a C compiler.

If, for example, you are on Debian or Ubuntu then you can install it with:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev

What Lord255 says is correct. Which IRC client do you use?

Re: Cannot find SSL Key: No such file or directory

I have updated the guide, it should have used live/ and not archive/

The guide was rewritten "only" 2 months ago, so that is probably why it was not noticed before. And possibly others noticed but did not bother to report it.

UnrealIRCd 5.0.3.1 released (fixes crash issue in 5.0.3)

Apologies to bother everyone again, UnrealIRCd 5.0.3 which was released last Saturday turned out to introduce a new crash bug. The download has now been replaced with 5.0.3.1. For users using 5.0.0/5.0.1/5.0.2 : no additional action is needed as this issue only affects 5.0.3 (this assumes you alread...
