I've coded such authentication modules which do exactly as you described, see my custom coding page (SQLAuth/SQLMod)... It contains the user/pass thingy [could be changed to user:pass, or combined ident/pass, whatever you want], choosing between mandatory/optional authentication, after-auth (/nick r...

Fun thing is that the ctcp version request caused by the ban version block is sent by the internal user 'IRC'. And msgs/notices to 'irc' (and 'ircd') are not catched by spamfilter :p [prolly wouldn't be a good idea anyway, since they are used for (raw) commands by webtv users].

Seems that you had a fight with ./Config and answered 'no' on the "path to curl" question on a previous attempt ;)

Just 'rm config.settings' and run ./Config and make again.

Yup, life sucks.
Don't worry, I know how it is... my ISP (wanadoo.nl) is not very loved by others either (they rarely handle abuse reports and are often used by hackers/spammers) and thus from time to time I'm *lined myself on other nets I never had been before.

Heh don't worry, it's a tad confusing indeed...
It first automatically redirected you to http://bugs.unrealircd.org/, but there's some kind of bug currently that require us to (temporary?) use this aproach.
Anyway, DeMiNe0 knows more about this ;).

It will make the lives of all who use the International forum so much easier. I think you are exaggerating a bit... It's very readable to me (and I think others too). It would probably not be worth it. I mean if you see a language you know, you can respond.. If you see a topic line in a language th...

ulining normal servers == bad

I would like to jump in on the stuf regarding ulines where Angrywolf and aquanight were talking about. They are both correct in saying that having your normal servers u-lined IS *VERY bad*... ULines don't only affect SVS* commands but a LOT more, it can also lead to strange things... Just to name on...

*late*

It will take action regardless of which one is first or how much delay there is.

But does it actually send the text you are trying to block at as a CTCP REPLY? Or is it a notice or something else...

For what it's worth.. I've put my experimental JumpServer module online (well, a week ago), unfortunately I haven't received much feedback yet.
You can find it here.

*edit* oh.. I see there was already another thread about this where it was mentioned, ah well ;) */edit*.

I was also unable to reach this forum in the past 1-2 day(s)... mainly because the digitaltoxicity.net DNS servers were down.. or at least from my location + some other fun. If others were able to reach the site then perhaps they had some kind of routing problem... Fun!

This means you have a password set in your allow block(s), just remove it (or connect with the correct password).
