Erm, common sense would say, create regular user, compile under as that user, run as that user.

Re: Couldn't resolve your hostname; using your IP address instea
This is why reading the documentation is exceptionally a good idea. The set::dns features are no longer implemented at this time. UnrealIRCd uses the Operating system's resolver, so basically it comes back to it being your host again, or in the event you're on a VM/VPS/Dedi, the configuration of you...

Yeah I'm aware, module system was never entirely finished, something I'm hoping to get around to here soon-ish though, sorry.

Re: help with +M mode
Channel Mode +M is a toggle to make it so the channel is basically pseudo-moderated (+m), where it only prevents people from talking if they are unregistered and not voiced. What channel specifically does it do it in, and what exactly are you saying? does it do it with anything you say, or is it lit...

We don't have precompiled binaries for *nix/Mac, you'll have to compile from the source tarball.

Re: Request: 328 RPL_CHANNEL_URL Support in Unreal
Personally, as I've told people who bitched about crashing unreal because they did stupid things through RAW on a U:Line, we shouldn't have to check what comes from a U:Line, by all means everything completely from a U:Line should be trusted, also I think syntax/content checking everything coming th...

Re: 3.2.7 - wont start - Fedora Core 9
Did you check `ps x` to see maybe if it DID start (note that it does start sometimes even though it gives that error).
Also, if you specified a separate logfile in the log block in your config, check that, that file exists and has proper permissions to be wrote to, same with ircd.log.

The aliases assume that the services are there, since the end-user are the one who set the alias.
If you don't have a hostserv, then don't set a hostserv alias : P

I would suggest going to searchirc.com, this set of forums is not for personal network-staff searching, so please don't use it as such.

The error is extremely descriptive, what exactly don't you understand about it?
the services-server option of the set block is not there, so make it : P
Read the documentation on the set block if you need more info.

Well, considering the blitzed network DNSBl hasn't been working in a looooooooooooooooooong time... either you configured it wrong or they decided to make the DNSBL return valid hits on everyone for anyone stupid enough to still use it, since its posted a lot of places related to BOPM to not use the...

Perhaps if you would kindly explain why spamfilter can't do what you need (as it seems by all means it would do exactly what you need), we might be a bit more enlightened to provide slight modulation assistance : P
