Desktop, windows, hands down. Servers, Linux, hands down. I don't have a favorite OS per say, I use what is best for a situation and let personal preferences be hanged. Windows does some servers much better then *nix, Active Directories is a nice example. if your talking sheer uptime, *nix beats win...

In unreal, IRCOP's bypass bans. So just deny the room.

deny channel {
channel "#oper";
reason "Opers Only room";
warn [off];
};

Router does not allow me to remap.

I figure it would be easiest and most practical to just move the port.

Thanx for the advice.

Permissions problem with ssl socket binding

I'm in the process of moving Unreal to a new systems with a new install of Debain Testing (etch). When i run the IRCD it loads up, but SSL ports do not work. I know the compile went through with SSL support properly. Now, when i rehashed the server, i get the following error. [10:31am] -xxxxx- Error...

well, i was actualy online when it happened again.

looks like it's a server side issue as the time stamp from the terminal shows the incorrect date.

It happened right on the hour 1pm, 3pm, etc. So i suspect there is some issue with the ntp update function.

Thanx for the help.

You might want to check the date on the box (type 'date' at a prompt)
It's accurate, both system time and hardware time.

Code: Select all

ircd@debian:~$ date

Database Problems

I posted this in the anope forums and got nothing usefull. Every now and then, i've been loosing my database for anope. I seem to get very odd time stamps on the backup files that get created. I don't know if this is an issue caused by a linked server, an NTP problem on my server or something totaly...
