libMYSQL.dll missing

Post by cout »

When i tried to start anope, it gave me this error:

so I went back to anope.org and i saw that it said it needed mysql so i went and got mysql. Tried running again but same error so I did a search for the file libmysql.dll and found it inside the mysql folder, i copied it inside the modules folder of anope in which all the .dll are (logic? maybe its wrong) and tried again but still same error.

Here is the pic of where i put the copied .dll into modules.

My limited knowledge prevents me of anymore ideas so thats why I am posting here, what should i do? Thanks

Yes Im not positive, but I believe when I was testing that I recieved the same error, and I put the .dll in the \Windows\System32 folder.

Also check the configs for any setting relating to MySQL and make sure they are correct.

EDIT: And... consider using an operating system that was designed to run services/servers. In my opinion Windows shouldn't be used for servers.

Services are generally a bit better. My main objection to running ircds on Windows is primarily the arse-up way it tends to do sockets - but these things will be. Services only uses one socket (at least, current ones do ;)) so it generally doesnt have a problem. As for security, a well-run windows box can actually be quite secure, especially when hidden behind a router.
