Gotta love windows error codes.. "Unknown Error"..

Lets start with the basics..

1. What version
2. What version of windows
3. Does the folder exist

Are you apt to run anope as debug mode? I think is the only way so that you see what it happens actually, run MSVC and start debugging. On the other hand, did you check :

1- Permissions?
2- Are .dbs in read only mode?

Windows ME = unsupported (as in likely to have issues)

I believe Anope didnt mention system requirement. If i can get it run in windowME, i dont think it is not supported...

you appear to be having this same discussion on anope's boards . They say its doesnt work well on win 9x/me . Try a services package that will or upgrade your os to nt/2k/xp .
Yawn. So there's yet another "if the user clicks the button, they're infected" exploit. Why is this news? We already know users are idiots.

Just read it.

It is not messy.

No one else's will be any shorter.

If you don't want to take the time to read it and configure Anope, don't run Anope because you need to know how to configure it to use it. Reading the docs are a requirement, not only for Unreal, but for anything.

Read the example and learn something, or don't run services.

Do you get a reply when using /msg NickServ? If so, donno what might be wrong.
When using /ns, do you not get the reply? If so, check the set::services-server setting.
