Unreal and anope linking

Post by Asylum »

I've set up unreal 3.2 and Anope 1.7.18 However no matter what I try I cannot get them to link.

I start anope with ./services -debug -nofork and then check the logs.

this is part of what I see -

Code: Select all

and when I try the /NickServ username I get the error - NickServ services are down. Please try again later. Same with ChanServ, BotServ, etc. None of the Services work or start.

in my unrealircd.conf file I have

l

Code: Select all

                        /* Note: You should not use autoconnect when linking services */

#                       ssl;
#                       zip;
and my network config

Code: Select all

/* Network configuration */

        default-server          "orion.wastelandwar.com";

        hiddenhost-prefix       "wlw";
        /* prefix-quit          "no"; */

First points to mention:

In your set block you set services-server to the name "services.wastelandwar.com" yet you show a link block for a server called "orion.wastelandwar.com" so youll need a link block for "services.wastelandwar.com"

Also make sure ServerName in services.conf is also services.wastelandwar.com

Double check RemoteServer specifers a port on an IP that the IRCd is listening too and that the port specified has a listen block in unrealircd.conf and ISNT limited to clientsonly or ssl.

Another point to note, when innitially linking services its better to use /msg NickServ help instead of /nickserv help, as if you have set::services-server incorrect /nickserv will cause a message that is very misleading.

ok, checked and adjusted the link. now services.conf and unrealircd.conf both read the same. rehashed and when I use /msg nickserv help it returns -- Error: no such nick: nickserv

Ok after rehash'ing Unreal, did you remember to start Anope?

Also for additional reasons as to why it's not connecting/staying connected dont forget to /oper and watch server notices.

In my experiance, permission denied is usually a firewall issue, where by either the source/destination ip/port are blocked by the LOCAL firewall. By local, I mean the firewall application running on the SAME computer that Anope is running on.
