That's their problem, not yours.. Probably a windows issue.

I'm guessing they are using mIRC, read here http://trout.snt.utwente.nl/ubbthreads/ ... 665&page=0

look in your set block

http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIrcd/unre ... l#setblock
set::allow-userhost-change [never|always|not-on-channels|force-rejoin]
Specifies what happens when the user@host changes (+x/-x/chghost/chgident/setident/vhost/etc).
never disables all the commands, always does always allow it even when in channels (may cause client desyncs) [default], not-on-channels means it's only allowed when the user is not on any channel, force-rejoin will force a rejoin in all channels and re-op/voice/etc if needed.

if there is a firewall for ircds it maybe the fw causing the problem, we have this problem on our network, eveyr now and then the fw goes weird and everyone connected to the 1 server gets " software caused Connection abort " - i guess its not configured correctly or sumthing but i know for sure it isnt myconnection.

"ping timeout " and " software caused abortion " are 2 different issues and problems....

as i said before, the providers firewall could be affecting your ircd server and the firewall could be giving the " software caused abortion " - "ping timeout " is either the fact that the config file needs tweaking to ping the clients more often to check they are still active or ur ircd server simply doesnt have the bandwitgh it needs to operate on, or finally the fact that ur clients are doing stuff which is " hogging " or taking up all there bandwith, in any rate (if im wrong / missed something im sure someone else will say)
mIRC DCC - IRC DCC 1024-5000

mIRC Chat 6660-6669

mIRC IDENT 113

MSN Game Zone 6667,28800-29000 6667,28800-29000

MSN Messenger 1863,6901,6891-6900 6901

MSN Game Zone (DX) 2300-2400,47624 2300-2400,47624

Tiberian Sun 1140-1234,4000 1140-1234,4000
as for the link you pasted, well thats very well etc, but i dont see how that is causing a " software caused abortion " :-

Msn TCP ports: 1863,6901,6891-6900 UDP: 6901
mIRC Chat TCP: 6660-6669 UDP: none

there are no port matchs there for any on either tcp / udp, even if there was/ is it would only " hog " or fight for connection / bandwith, but how is that different from any other time O_o

Tiberian sun is there becuz i play it online. - i have ISDN 64K connection, my clan m8s are all german they are running dsl and cable connections, if we play a game just for us, its very fast if one however, is on MSN the game lags by 0-2secs desipte the fact they are on dsl / cable. - tiberian sun and msn use the same port. *no brains required here*

anyway to see if ur unreal ircd configs change them to test,
class clients {
pingfreq 90; <--- change that, althou lower than 90 secs aint recommended
