[Windows] Adding IRCop for Windows Esier Way

Post by pedroskipr »

I have created an application for Windows to add/edit IRCops. Only you can edit ircops added through the application at this moments. But In later releases, i will implement that ;-) The application is simple, but helps alot i Think, I use it for my own server ;-)

I don't know if UnrealIRCd Coders, or Moderators will delete this message. But you can get it from:

Take care you guys!

It has a 404 error. That aside, I'm working on a special editor for block-style formats. Dunno if it'll ever get finished, but it'd stop all those stupid missing ; errors and stuff.

I think this topic should be deleted, but I will leave that up to someone else. *poke Syzop and codemastr*

Conf generators support laziness and give more idiots an oppertunity to do something they otherwise would not be able to do. Running a server takes time and effort. If you don't have the time or don't want to put the effort into learning the simple stucture of Unreal's conf blocks, then you clearly don't have the time to run an IRCd at all.

What Stealth is trying to point out is that to successfully admin a server you need to know how to edit your .confs manually . You have to learn how to do it . This takes time and some effort . One of the hardest things to do with unreal is set up your .confs . Tools like this mean you cant learn how to do it yourself it's a shortcut at the end of the day. It's also limited in its use to windows users with local access to the server .

I learnt Unreal from the faq's , Docs and these boards . It took me a long time to get my first server running . I now can edit the .confs as necessary and add, edit, delete opers easily .

The structure looks confusing at first but if you read the docs it is easy to get your head round.

If more people bothered reading the docs supplied then they would find setting up Unreal much easier .

Put yourself in the position of the forum regulars like Stealth who spend day after day replying to posts headed "HELP ME PLEEEEEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEE" which are answered in the FAQ or Docs .

Its very tiresome and tools like this will only encourage more people to ignore the docs and fly into Unreal blind and have no idea what they are doing .

If you cant understand the docs then sorry you really shouldnt be using Unreal . Try the numerous free java alternatives that require zero technical knowledge .

Right rant over I feel much better now :p
Yawn. So there's yet another "if the user clicks the button, they're infected" exploit. Why is this news? We already know users are idiots.
