Banning xchat

I notice 2 USERS scripts are sending way to many packets to and from the ircd server.

Is there a way i can have a VERSION CHECKER, so if someone connects to the ircd using xchat, it will deny them and tell them Sorry, Xchat is not allowed on this ircd server.

Thanks.

Can someone help me with a version checker script.

In xchat it is very easy to choose an option not to answer to ctcp requests, so there's quite an easy workaround :P

so what do you recommend me do..

I noticed 2 clients using xchat were flooding the ircd with PUSH & ACK packets, more then the regular basic mirc script.

Being that these clients are sending more packets, im seeing more of my clients drop.. example:

[12:00] * user1 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[12:13] * user2 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[12:28] * user3 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[12:43] * user4 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[13:11] * user5 has quit IRC (Input/output error)
[13:13] * user6 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[13:14] * user7 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[14:49] * user2 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[15:06] * user5 has quit IRC (Input/output error)
[15:34] * user8 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)
[15:46] * user3 has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)

Our clocks are synced. I cant see why this is happening.
Sometimes I will check my event viewer in win2kserver and it will say..

The time service has not been able to synchronize the system time for 49152 seconds because none of the time providers has been able to provide a usable time stamp. The system clock is unsynchronized.

Shall I blame it on Microsoft time server?? hehehe...those bastards :D

you can force a time update in windows XP by double clicking on the clock in the Systray and selecting the Internet Time tab, then clicking the Update Now button. Windows 2000 doesn't have the Windows Time Service ;)

[note] you will have to restart your IRCd for the time update to take effect in unreal. it has it's own time clock that is set when the IRCd first starts [/note]
