Try specifying "syslog" as the logfile, does that work ok for you?

can be a good addon, i test de ircu in the make config have th option to compile with syslog support is good if you want monitor you server from a remote pc with other program as kiwi syslog, unealircd is the best for me, is only a question, thanks
