Re: LAN connection
You will more then likly need to set up port forwarding on your cable modem/router so that the ports your IRCd listens on are forwarded from that modem/router to your computer.

Secondly, why not buying a shell i know one ( My best Friend). You may get one shell very cheap and a very good hosting services with great uptimes . An IRCd shell, you may install everything you wish as follows:

Re: LAN connection
then you may need a dyndns for you ip to hide you ip cause otherwise you will need to give users of your server you own ip.

Re: LAN connection
In case you wasnt already aware, DNS does NOT hide IP addresses, it simply gives them an easier to remember synonym or alias which is then used to resolve the IP address to connect to.ircmru wrote:then you may need a dyndns for you ip to hide you ip cause otherwise you will need to give users of your server you own ip.

EG:
1) Client looks up irc.domain.tld
2) DNS server replies to client with IP address
3) Client then connects to IP address.
