ok, yea im a n00b, i no, i no.

Ok, i'm trying 2 set up a server, i have a domain, DNS, etc, but that aint the problem. I installed UnrealIRCd 3.2 on my windows 2k PC. I tried starting it with the example.conf renamed to unrealircd.conf. lol. Of couse it didnt work , so i checked the service log. about 20 errors. I fixed em all up eventually, and tried running both the exe's in the folder. It didnt do anything. I read the FAQ

Booting - Windows - It doesn't start?? nothing happens!

Check service.log (or ircd.log) and fix your errors.

Already checked.

Also, i was just wondering, is it possible to run a server on a LAN or something?

You should check you BG proceess to see if wircd.exe is running. If you have installed unrealircd as service then you don't get any dialogs or tray icons, just process running in background.
Else...if not then you have some errors still..

well, i installed it as a service, but whats that mean? I mean, how do i use it then? lol. i feel so n00bish. ;P

Uhm... /me looks at the installer text: "Install as a service (not for beginners)" .. :P

whoops, i see that now. . Ok, so shouldi reinstall it and put in my unrealircd.conf, or should i use it as a service (if so, how?)

ok, w00t, i got it running. It works on my lan, but my friend cant connect.

also, i used my DNS to redirect random.gonz0.com to my ip (169.254.16.210) and when my friend tries it, she gets the page doesnt exist. I tried connecting to my network thru irc on random.gonz0.com, but it told ME connection refused.

any help, much appreciated.
