Servers delink.

Post by Casper »

Hi all,

This is some weird issue I'm having here. We have two servers connected to a hub and between this servers we're using SSL. But each time I connect and I /oper myself up on a completely different server(B), that server(A) disconnects from the netwerk with this "error": SSL_read() Underlying socket operation returned zero. The weird thing only occurs when I oper up.

Some information:
  • Both are running OpenSSL 0.9.8e
    Both are on Unreal3.2.7
Both are running on the same time (Timediff = 0)
Network Structure:
HUB - A (disconnecting server)
|
B (from where I /oper myself up)

I hope anyone knows a solution for this!

Thanks, Casper.

What modules do you have loaded on each server?

Hub:
  • ircops
    privdeaf
    staff
    *
A:
None*

B:
  • m_jumpserver
    privdeaf
    m_uptime
    ircops
    antirandom
    m_userip
    *
*Beside these modules listed up here, the standard ones are loaded, of course. Also, they all came from the module section here or from AngryWolf's site.

Thanks ;)

Just a random question, did you accidentally list ircops twice for B or do you actually try and load it twice?

Its generally a good idea (at least with a few of those modules especially if I recall) to have them loaded on every server. Should prob document that in the modules system when they should be network wide... (puts on to do list)

Can you unload all the modules on both servers (may require restarting), and try opering again?

Chances are it's one of the 3rd party modules, but I am unable to determine a decent guess as to which one

Yes, I'll ask the other server admin when he comes back, which will probably be tomorrow. Thanks for now and I'll keep you informed about the issue!

Thanks a lot all :)

I still haven't unloaded all the modules, as today I /oper'ed myself like four times as my damn ISP lost connection all the time. There wasn't any delink between them, which makes this 'issue' (if it still is) even more unusual...

Your ISP lost the connection?

That's strange. Is this through an SSL or plain text connection?

Yeah, due to maintance or something. I'm talking about my home connection now, so I had to reconnect to the server a few times, which is located in a DC. So luckily the server was online! But, the few times I reconnected, the server didn't delink whenever I /oper'ed myself up, with still all the modules loaded.

It's a SSL connection (OpenSSL0.9.8e, all of the servers).
