Ok so it has taken me 7 hrs to install this so that should give you all the info you need on how noobish i am, but i will learn

So i have my server up and running and was trying to change the MOTD i read i needed to creat and upload ircd.motd, no problem that i can mange and di. then i read i must rehash!

This is where i come unstuck when i enter that comand i get "Error 481 - Permission Denied- You do not have the correct IRC operator privileges" so i guess the next question is how do i login as admin ? i though i was, but heyho i guess not ?

You use the /oper command.

Syntax:
Both are given and created by you in the unrealircd.conf

As a side note, /rehash alone won't rehash motd's you need to do: /rehash -motd *AFTER* you oper up.
