server not working

Post by bruceb »

i have gone through all the steps, i think, to get the server running, but when i run the program, and then click on the status button, no server is shown in the servers window, and when i try to use the server, with mIRC, i try several ip's and port numbers, and never get anything

so what am i doing wrong?

thanks

You need to provide more information, like config file, error messages when you try to run your unrealircd

i get no errors... but here is the config file...

/* Configuration file for UnrealIRCd 4
*
* Simply copy this file to your conf/ directory, call it
* 'unrealircd.conf' and walk through it line by line (edit it!)
*
* Important: All lines, except the opening { line, end with an ;
* including };. This is very important, if you miss a ; somewhere then
* the configuration file parser will complain and your file will not
* be processed correctly!
* If this is your first experience with an UnrealIRCd configuration
* file then we really recommend you to read a little about the syntax,
* this only takes a few minutes and will help you a lot:

other times use pastebin to paste the entire config file.
what is your public IP?
try to connect by using that IP on your open ports but first make sure unrealircd is running

Thanks for your reply!

I can not see anywhere on this "post a reply" page where i can use something called "postbin", or even anyway to attach a file!

I have tried using all kinds of ip addresses to connect to, from my ipv4 address: 10.1.10.243 - to local host, etc. etc. etc. but none seem to work!

i am assuming that i should be able to connect to my irc server from the same computer??

Also on the UnrealIRCD server popup window, when i click on the STATUS button, no servers are listed! Is this normal?

https://pastebin.com/ is the url

You need to try the IP that is provided to you by your ircd hosting company

that would be me!!! :) this is set up on my personal computer, and i am trying to get this setup for a ham radio network... but right now it is just this single computer!!! - i seem to be getting nowhere here!!! I keep saying that there is no server listed on the server screen, and nobody ever responds to that!!!!!!!!!!! maybe this is the wrong IRC server system for me??? If i can not get any kind of response to my question, I think i will just give up! and move on!

If you have installed the unrealircd correctly, and your server is up and running, than you should be able to connect using your public IP.
