need help Windows to linux move

Post by RadarG »

I want to upgrade my old windows based system running v3 to a new v4 server running Linux. Any tips advice or docs that I can read? I was thinking of using CentOS.

For running UnrealIRCD on Linux, you can use just about any Linux distro out there. Currently my favorite has been Debian, but that's because it's a quick install and works out-of-the-box on most systems. I also use CentOS for many standalone servers since it is easy to work with.

As far as UnrealIRCd, moving from 3.2.x to 4.x would need a whole new configuration written. In the Documentation Wiki, there is a utility that will convert your existing UnrealIRCd3.2 configuration into an UnrealIRCd4.x configuration. The new configuration can even be used on either Windows or Linux without any changes.
