blocks auto-join and allowed-nickchars incompatible?

i have set auto-join to 2 hebrew channels.
i have set allowed-nickchars to latin1 and hebrew.
i am using 3 different irc-clients (chatzilla, hexchat and kiwi-irc) and experiencing same problem at all of them.
when i connect to the server it joins me to 2 gibberish named channels and not to hebrew named channels.
in addition, if i use the client to manually join a hebrew named channel, it parses the channel name correctly and i can see the channel name in hebrew.
what can i do to solve this?
