Understanding server notice

Post by CrazyCat »

Hi there,

I noticed that I don't understand the last info in a connect server notice. Seems to be the connection class, but it's sometimes {0} and sometimes {clients}, depending on the server. When I'm on the same server than the user, I see {client}, and when he connects on a linked server, I see {0}.
The versions are the same (UnrealIRCd-4.2.3) and the config file are quite the same (just inverted the link blocks)...

So, why is it different ?

The server notice in question is generated by the server YOU are connected to. With that being the case, when that notice is sent to you for users connecting to OTHER servers, the server you're connected to does not know the connection class applied to those users. So instead it displays "0".

To simplify: connection notices for users connecting to other servers will show 0 instead of the connection class.
