Spamfilter action

Hello,

First, I'm sorry for my english, I'm french!

I configurated my spamfilter with action "warn", but it seems that it send a notice to the user too. I would send the spam on channel (for example #spamfilter ) and no notice to the user.

How is it possible to make that ?

Thank,

Crapulard

We do this so you cannot abuse the spamfilter feature to turn it into a spy feature.

It's better the user gets the warning if he/she spams something, right?

So it would be better if you could just add a * spamfilter and see what all the users on the network do?
As Syzop said, it's a measure so you can't spy on your users, otherwise your users wouldn't have any privacy.

Cheers

But what if the user is abuser and spammer. It will be nice for someone like that.

Well, you can't set the spamfilter to hit just one person, iirc.
The request you're making would make possible to network admins/ircops to spy on others, and that's a very unethical thing to request.
If you have problems with spammers, just keep them out of your network with an akill/gline.

akill/gline are worse because with botnets or modern VPN they can change their IP address at will.
With a few experiments, spammer can find what the filter is, then change his spam.

Best you can do :
- spamfilter with shun action
- or for coders, a module that drop their spam silently (but do not drop if spammer is privmsg to himself)

We miss an easy way to add customs TKL.
