So we all know hopm and bopm, but is their any other bots that help networks in such for security?

no need for such anymore.
unreal has a built in dnsbl function (blacklist) and also anope has it's own dnsbl (check in docu or in config, you need to enable it too).
hopm although got it's ssl support (finally..), but still.. not needed anymore since both product has it's own function.

hmm, for some reason hopm wouldnt connect to my network via ssl, perhaps there is a settimg i have to enable on the config *shrug*

are you tried with v1.1.8? just came out 22 days ago.
anyway.. if you connect it via localhost, you don't need to connect through ssl to have it opered up.
but yes, there are requirements in the config to be able to connect via tls.
