antipsybnc module required

Post by Suchiara »

Hello everyone.. Our newrok suffers from users who use psybnc and don't configure it properly.. for example, if a user disconnects and then connects (a psybnc user I mean):

User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User
User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User
User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User
User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User
User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User
User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User
User is known as GuestXXXXXX
GuestXXXXXX is known as User

and etc. This flood annoys everyone..
Is there any module which would allow maxlimum, let's say 10 nick changes after service 'kills' and then would prevent user from ability to change his nick?
for example:
*** The nick change limit has been exceeded and you cannot change your nick any more! please reconnect to the server again to change your nick.

something similar to that would be good :)
Thanks

if this is occuring in a channel, use the IRCD's anti-flood features

http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIRCd/unre ... _antiflood

for example...

+f [7n#N10]:15

7 nick changes in 15 seconds set's the room to +N for ten minutes (no nick changes allowed unless they are +v or higher)
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Or you can just use an extended ban ~n to stop that user...

I like this idea: /gline bnc_user 0 BNC's are not welcome here, as they can be insecure and abused.

w00t: His BNC is probably secure and the admins probably know that and would make him exempt from that gline
Why the hell can't my signature be empty?

I don't use a BNC. I use what they call a computer turned on 24/7 with a client running on it.

If I were to use a BNC, it would be run on my own LAN, and available to only users within that LAN (me)... But I find BNC's a pain in the ass and a waste of bandwith/HDD space/CPU usage/etc.

There's also a nick-flood configuration settings in the config, you can do something like limit nick changes to 10 in 4000000000000000000000000 seconds (and this would apply to all users, not just those in a channel) or something insane like that and it would work, althought the ~n solution works way better :) .

Sealth: I'm sure you know that BNC also blocks your IP... not just keeps you connected... I would hope so, lol.

black_skies4, I have no reason to want to hide my real IP, I only go on networks that offer cloaking as a default to users. Also, BNC's are gay, I would prefer to use a secure proxy.
