But it wouldn't be the proper regular expression. What you wrote matches everything.

Sure, ask Google. :) There are hundreds of regex tutorials all over the world. However keep in mind that UnrealIRCd uses a POSIX-compliant regex library called TRE. (Therefore, for example, tutorials about Perl regexes are not the ones you want to use with it).

'Tis a bit hard when the only place I can really use the net from (school) blocks google...

Will try to do so one day, my main thought was that I would have expected to see regex documentation bundled with Unreal...

Well, mIRC also doesn't ship with regex documentation eh? ;)
Lots of apps don't, and Angrywolf is right, there are hundreds of regex tutorials out there, and some very good ones.

A little introduction/howto (so not a manual, but.. to help newbies) was planned for 3.2-RC2 but... it wasn't done (yet?) due lack of time ;p.

[Anyway, this is getting a bit offtopic... talking about regex manuals in the 'Unreal3.2 modules' section I mean]

It's not due to lack of time, it's more due to the fact that I can't find a way to explain it to a beginner without leaving them more confused than when we started :)
