can 2 server with the same name be linked ? what i got is irc.mynet.net ip 1.2.3.4 an
irc.mynet.net ip 6.7.8.9 and the load has even out so is there a work around or trick to link to each other or to a hub
the dns(round robin) work great but without linking need 2 mirc running and services on both shells ?
link server same name

that's definitly not possible - a servername is a unique name within the network - just like a nick only exists once!
why don't choose irc1.- und irc2.yournet.tld
the roundrobin-entry irc.yournet.tld stays and balances the load on the to servers.
The users will usually not realize or care which server they are on, as long as everything works *g*
you may link those 2 servers directly and have services linked to one of them. If everything is configured correctly, services will work on the other server as well.

thanks for reply but dont have a clue what you are saying the A records at
my domain register is forwarding the name to the ips both domain names have to be the same or are you saying to change server name in unrealircd.conf file to link and the traffic coming to that ip with the diff server name will still connect

for example:
you have one server on IP 1.2.3.4 - the other one on 5.6.7.8
in unrealircd.conf name the first one irc1.whatever.net (the 1.2.3.4-one) and the other one irc2.whatever.net (the 5.6.7.8-one)
configure both ircds to link each other - so you have a net consisting of those 2 servers.
As DNS-Record for irc.whatever.net you would enter both IPs (Roundrobin) - so the clients connecting getting one of those 2 by random - theoretically this balances the load on those 2 ircds.
hope this helps
