Dear Helpers,
My server somehow showing the server's IP at the first line of connecting instead of the server's name.
I log on as /server irc.mynet.net , but somehow it changes the server's name to IP address instead when it is connecting.
[00:00:00] * Connecting to 11.222.333.44 (6667)
-
[00:00:00] -irc.mynet.net- *** Looking up your hostname...
-
Where as other servers when i connect to theirs it shows server's name not IP address like mind.
[00:00:00] * Connecting to irc.someone.net (6667)
-
[00:00:00] -irc.someone.net- *** Looking up your hostname...
Could you please give me advice and tell me how to fix it.
Thank you so much in advance.

That has nothing to do with Unreal, it is all to do with your client.

I don't know why mIRC displays the server name sometimes, and the IP other times. It is possible servers which are on a Round Robin DNS display the server name, and DNS names pointing directly to 1 IP it displays the IP.

I connect to 3 networks, 2 of which I connect to a specific server. The 2 that I connect to a specific server with, it displays the IP I am connecting to. The 3rd network I connect to the main DNS name, and it displays the server name when it receives more than 1 IP.

Moved topic to Off Topic for further discussion.

Using mIRC 6.21 when i connect to a specific server by host name it doesnt display the IP for me. The same with the round robbin DNS's i use as well. Only time i see it connect by IP is when the first time it tries to connect fails and it then tries again using the IP that the host resolved to.

I just found out its to do with mIRC client .
I did "File" then "Recent Servers" then "Clear History".
and i put in address over again. then no more IP showing at start up of connection.

Thank You so much for those who responded to my question.

Thats one answer that i know of, maybe there are more answers to that
as you guys said above.
