No. The server protocols are not compatible. Presently Unreal can only link to other Unreal ircds.

Hi,

Sorry for such a terse answer. I've looked into this a bit further.
OfficeIRC Manual wrote: 2.21 Server Linking
Server Linking allows you to link your server with
another server (or group of servers) running either
OfficeIRC, DreamForge or UnrealIRCD.
While it does say this in their manual, I doubt that it's still true. Unreal IRCd has changed it's protocol quite a bit since 3.2 and I doubt it can connect unless they too have kept up with updates to the server protocol. Unreal most likely won't connect to dreamforge (the ircd unreal was originally based on). So unless OfficeIRC has modular ircd support, I doubt it can connect.

Unreal also does not support IRCX features so there is another difference in protocols.

Good Luck.

The numeric has to be in a single digit range and yes I have connected them. Two ircx and one unreal all linked.
Going for a second unreal server now.

hmmm, interesting.

Please keep us posted if you don't mind as to how non-existent features and mode work across servers. For example: how does unreal handle being issued IRCX specific traffic when Unreal doesn't support IRCX, and how well do the ircds get along when the user/channel modes that aren't supported bidirectionally work out.

I'm interested in learning how fast the network and/or channels desync due to so much unknown broadcast traffic.

thanks.

Modes work just have to add double eg. a silent bot is +d ircx and +i unreal.
The version linked is 3.2.10.2 not tried .4 yet.
4 server successfully connected.
Still looking for bugs but so far very happy. 34 rooms and very fast

Been 2 weeks now and all going strong. Ircx seems to dominate the network with taking away the unreal Opers but samode fixes that.
All in all really happy for something both sides said could not be done with the latest versions.
No problems with rooms lists modes etc.
Yes unreal is running Anope as a leaf in the network structure so all good there.
Trying Inspircd now and yes I know it can't be done.
