UnrealHelper is very picky about ident/host. If your host has the slightest change in it (like your IP changing), UnrealHelper will make you take it again.
UnrealHelper also doesnt seem to like certain characters in nicks like `.
EDIT: UnrealHelper always sends the test link... Sometimes it is a bit slow. Check your client settings.
It isn't like the test is hard, JUST TAKE IT AGAIN... Unless you are afraid of failing... In that case, don't even bother...

Well I didn't have any special characters in my nick, and I waited about an hour for the link and didn't get it.
My ip was the only thing that changed and it's changed before with out any problems.
I know the test isn't hard and I took the test again once I knew where to take it. The only problem was UnrealHelper didn't tell me where to take it.

I will add that I've had problems with U-H not sending me the test link in the past. I have a dynamic IP, so I was having to re-take it virtually every time I connected! :/.
I don't suppose there would be a way to get it to set up passworded voices instead of throwing in every hostmask ever used?

There is but it's been disabled because some belive it to be useless. I set up my password already awhile ago when I had problems awhile ago thinking that I could use the ident command instead of having to take the test so much but ident don't work. None of the commands work if your not ident to it already the only thing it looks for is the test answers and ignores anything else till your voiced. Even just typing help when your not voiced does nothing.
OK, strike that and make it a *working* ident command for those who have already passed the test ;p.
Alternativly, I wonder if this could be done as an ircservices module? (the test that is).
ie: register your nick, join, chanserv goes "/cs doquiz to get voice" or whatever, you do that, and CS adds you to the #unreal-support VOP list.

Not everyone will want to register their nick for one visit.
/me revises w00t's statement...
voices you and if your registered, vops you.
HOWEVER: We must also consider, some services (I dont know about IRCservices) are limited in the size of their access lists. How many people are stored in UnrealHelper's list?

Why the hell can't my signature be empty?

We are currently using the default eggdrop adduser stuff, but perhaps I could add users by *!*ident@*.something.xx, so for w00t that would be (in 1 of the cases) *!*something@*.7358129F.IP instead of *!*something@*.SOMETHING.7358129F.IP.Obviously it does not help for people that have a tendency to change their ident 10 times a day (hi w00t!), nor would it help for various other ISPs which have their IPs spread too much (like with C45P3R)... but it might help in a few cases ;p.
The moving-it-to-chanserv might sound nice at first, but:
1) people might not want to register (which is logical)
2) you asked about the # of users, well.. UnrealHelper has currently 5220 users, of which 297 have visited in the last 30 days... which is I think way too many for a realistic access list (besides that, I think 30d is too low).
3) preferably we would like something that can turned off if needed.
4) as for a module, I doubt it... ircsystems is pretty much anti-modules on the ircd, I would be surprised if it would be otherwise for services.
Basically in most cases if people keep a proper ident it's not really a problem, but if your IP doesn't resolve then it gets quite hard for our unrealhelper frien :p.
My ident only changes because I can't be bothered to set it - in this kind of a case, I'd remember . Although, if you ever get bored - feel free to remove all those as I plan on reformatting soon, so I'll probably want to get a semi-decent ident to match everything else planned to be shiny and new.
@Stealth, sounds like a nice system - but obviously an automated one would be nicer.
To your points syzop [and modifying my original idea],
1) They get voiced if they aren't registered, vopped if they are
2) Well, I *guess* 1 might cover this - but you could go a bit more complex and get the module to delete any ACL entries that hadn't been used in say, 10 days
3) Yeah, you'd probably make it turn-offable
4) That would be a problem.
My main problem is I have no static IP, and either shift around a lot or my parents decide to switch ISPs (again.). The second has happened probably 4 times in recent memory (Shoalnet -> TPG -> ShoalNet -> Fastrack -> Shoalnet -> AAPT(current)). Although, this currently doesn't present a problem for me due to my CS login.

kinda doubt it... i dont see a million websites where someone has posted the test key....codemastr wrote:If we did that, you'd just see a million websites where someone has posted his/her password so that anyone can get around the quiz.w00t wrote:I don't suppose there would be a way to get it to set up passworded voices instead of throwing in every hostmask ever used?
That's because it changes.
Due to my dynamic ip nature, i started keeping records - i gave up after 4 unique keys each time :/
