unrealircd.conf ban nick

where can i find some regexp tutorial for the ban nick block? i'm only aware about the '?' and '*' characters but i'd like to know about some more advanced regexps to better control the list of forbidden nicks.

The ban nick block does not accept a regex mask.

Other than that, RTFM, and pat attention to the last section.
