/kill and /gline cut off messages

Post by DarkBlood »

well.. when setting a gline or using the /kill command. I've noticed that it always cut off my message.
for example I type

Code: Select all

/kill someone go away
it would show

Code: Select all

(Killed(DarkBlood(away))
It's not like it matters what the message was but it always cuts off and it gets annoying.. especially when i'm trying to set a proper gline. I want to have my words correctly.

so, anyway I can prevent if from cutting off words?

Thanks,
Aven

You should not see this on kills, because the proper syntax is "kill user reason". With G:Lines, make sure you ALWAYS specify a time. When there is no numerical value after the nick, Unreal sees it as 0 (because a word has no value), and will drop that word from the reason. The G:Line will be permanent.

@/kill I cannot reproduce that here. Just to be sure I tried both local and remote kills.
Perhaps your client/script is annoying you?

heh... this is silly but is there a way to /kill without having to put a reason?

not that it matters at all but just wondering...

And about the /gline I perfectly understand how it works out now, thanks.

The best way to kill someone without a reason is: /kill nick No reason.

Although, killing users without reason is quite abusive IMHO...

Nothing to say? Give an example of a legit kill where you have nothing to say.

They know what they did? Good for them. Remind them. The kill message also explains to other users who were speaking with them...
Why the hell can't my signature be empty?

kill reasons are also very usefull to admins who want to make sure their opers are not abusing anything, kills can be logged server side.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
