Unreal 3.2 Released!

Post by codemastr »

After 3 years and 4 months, Unreal 3.2 is finally released!!!! . This version fixes bugs found since RC2. Anyone running a previous version of 3.2 or any 3.1.X version should definately upgrade! We would like to thank everyone who helped us get 3.2 out, and we look forward to continuing to develop Unreal after a nice, well deserved vacation :)

Unreal3.2 Release Notes
========================

==[ GENERAL INFORMATION ]==
* If you are upgrading, make sure you run make clean and ./Config before doing make
* The official UnrealIRCd documentation is doc/unreal32docs.html
  online version at: http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIrcd/unreal32docs.html
  FAQ: http://www.vulnscan.org/UnrealIrcd/faq/
  Read them before asking for help.
* Report bugs at http://bugs.unrealircd.org/

== [ NEW ]==
- Added german docs (doc/unreal32docs.de.html)
- In a spamfilter reason field '_' gets converted to a space (' '),
  now also added '__' which gets converted to underscore itself ('_').

==[ MAJOR BUGS FIXED ]==
- '/spamfiltere remove' was often removing the wrong entry (RC2 bug)
- The TRE regex library was sometimes matching too much if [range].+
  was used multiple times.
- Fixed a remote include issue and added timeouts in case a connection/transfer fails

==[ MINOR BUGS FIXED ]==
- Sometimes hosts were not resolved on Windows due to a resolver bug
- spamfilter and sqline: memory leak on /rehash (a few kb)
- spamfilter: protect against insane long reason/regex fields in configfile
- set::modes-on-join now accepts extended channelmodes
- Opteron: various crashbugs fixed, should work ok now.
- Win32 GUI "rehash all" option did not reload motd/rules.
- Same for ./unreal rehash on *NIX
- Usermode 'r' (registered) was unset if you changed the case of your
  nick (eg: 'blah'->'Blah'), this affected at least ircservices.
- vhost::swhois wasn't shown if you did a remote /whois.
- Made './curlinstall' work with new c-ares-1.0.0.
- Fixed compile problem on some machines related to TRE / libintl.
- /who +m was incorrectly hiding +H users even for opers.
- Fixed /rehash bug if an .so or remote include didn't load properly

==[ CHANGED ]==
- spamfilter.conf: fixed fyle sig, added sigs for: soex, Nkie, LOI, Gaggle,
  changed a lot of sigs from block to gline.
- Windows: now using new Inno Setup which made the installer 300k smaller
- Docs, help.conf and other text updates.

Great work guys. Now there is no reason for the people to not upgrade since it is officially not a beta. Keep up the great work!

Can you please post a download link here? The homepage seems to be down again like so many times in the last week...

The download section of the site is the only place to download Unreal. You can use CVS to update your current version. But we won't link here.

dear UnrealIRCd coders,

a lot of people despise your ircd. They think of it as a 'kiddie', 'n00b', or 'power hungry admins' ircd, however, they are wrong. 3.2 has pushed the evolution of ircd servers to an entirely new level. I have found Unreal to be one of the most advanced, configurable, and hassle-free IRCds around. Very nice work on the completion of your project.

jewles if I didnt know any better, I'd think you were attempting to be sarcastic :o I was being serious, though. I got in a sort of heated argument with my other admins on why we should run Unreal vs hybrid :P I've been using Unreal since 3.0 :P The ircd has come a long way, yes it used to be a kiddie ircd.. but now it's one of the most feature packed and in my opinion one of the most cutting edge ircds, if not THE most <blah blah>.. Now all you need is a coding team dedicated to providing services built solely for UnrealIRCd :P
