Android IRC client with DCC?

Post by farnandez »

Hi, sorry if this has been answered before. I have tried several IRC Clients for android. I have a public IP from my mobile provider (three), I've tested this by running several different servers from my handset (web, dlna, etc). The problem I have is that when I am using, for instance, #ebooks over at irchighway, I am able to receive my search file (.txt), but am unable to receive any other files. This happens whether I am using my home broadband or mobile data. Has anyone had this problem and possibly solved it? Thanks in advance.

Not sure it's unrealircd related trouble as DCC is Direct Client to Client. The trouble come from one of the client: your phone or the sender.

Direct Client-to-Client (DCC) is an IRC-related sub-protocol enabling peers to interconnect using an IRC server for handshaking in order to exchange files or perform non-relayed chats. Once established,a typical DCC session runs independently from the IRC server. Originally designed to be used with ircII it is now supported by many IRC clients. Some peer-to-peer clients on napster-protocol servers also have DCC send/get capability, including TekNap, SunshineUN and Lopster. A variation of the DCC protocol called SDCC (Secure Direct Client-to-Client), also known as DCC SCHAT supports encrypted connections.
