ummm ummm !!! its for sYzoP .

Post by GouroB »

hello sYzoP ,

i download a module from ur site called " jumpserver " ... as its stated in the description
This module adds the ability to 'redirect' users to another server. Note however, that this is only supported by a few clients (mIRC).
It adds a /JUMPSERVER command:
/JUMPSERVER <server>[:port] <NEW|ALL> <reason>
or:
/JUMPSERVER <server>[:port]/<sslserver>[:sslport] <NEW|ALL> <reason>
If 'NEW' is chosen then only new (incoming) clients will be redirected/rejected.
If 'ALL' is chosen then ALL clients (except opers) are redirected immediately (+incomming).
CHANGES:
0.0.1: Public release
0.0.2: Added option so you can redirect SSL users to another server
but i have some question in here ... like if i have 2 servers in my network ... one if for mIRC users & one is for Java ( web clients ) . so if i force join or as this module allows to redirect all users from a server to other ... now if i redirect all my java users in my mirc server ... will they able to chat from there ?
i mean in mirc server we dont have any Java applet .. wont their be any problem ?

Well, there's not really a 'mirc' or 'java' irc server.. it's all IRC.. so yeah java can use that other server just fine I guess[*].
BUT... I don't think any of these java clients support redirecting, so /jumpserver is kinda useless then :P.
Anyway, since it's java.. why not just change the name on the webpage? :P

[*: Well, there is a listen::options::java, but this is misleading, it's only an ugly hack to make the conference room java applet work {uh, or at least the old ones}, all the other java irc applets work just fine without it]

Hmmm... i believe the CR java still needs a dirty hack to work. Last time I tried it (about a year age), it didn't work at all. I don't even know why Unreal has the java option :P

In that case: eeewwww CR *shudders*

Most of us do have a way for java clients to connect to our servers, but we don't set up servers just for them. Like Syzop said, most java clients wont support the server redirect numeric. Not even all the normal IRC clients support redirects! I think you should just send a notice

Code: Select all

/notice $server.mynet.com
and let them deal with any disconnects. Also, it might be intelligent to have a way for them to choose what server they wish to connect to.
