It appears I'm timing out (ping timeout) to other users who see me on the channel.

What is the possible reasons for this that I am timing out and not them?

firstly, try to choose another irc client ( I'm sur efor 98% you're using mirc). Try x-chat. If you still have those ping timeouts, post here :P

I finally had someone watch when I was disconnecting. Here is what it shows when I disconnect:

* modem has quit IRC (Connection reset by peer)

Can you stop spouting crap? :P

I use mIRC, and have for 4 years -- on [around] 10-14 networks, 30-50 channel windows, and numerous PMs. All in all, fairly heavy IRC use.

I can tell you now, I don't ping out often -- nor have other problems. The problem isn't going to be the client.

In your case, you're getting connection reset by peer - a nice message, basically meaning that something, somewhere between you and the server dropped the connection -- generally this is a crappy router or something that has trouble holding a connection if nothing is going through it [in which case, a small script that sends the occasional PING to the server or something [i believe jason wrote one earlier?] should help - i used to have this problem with my old router.]

Anyhow, see how goes. Basically, there isn't really anything Unreal can do in it's end, unless it's the one dropping the connection, doubtful to the max :p
