I would suggest updating gcc ( http://gcc.gnu.org/ )

Current release series: GCC 3.4.2 (released 2004-09-06)

and trying again or use gmake if you have it installed.

Since the compile error is due remote includes, did you read and follow the instructions of INSTALL.REMOTEINC? (if not, do so now)
