im new to all this.
I want to run my own private mirc server using unrealirc as i heard its very good, and was recommended by others, can anyone have suggestions of running it on a windows xp machine, and best/easiest way to install it and get it going.

Well buddy, first off

I want to run my own private mirc server

mirc is only a client, (and a terrible one at that.) Unrealircd is a server that clients connect to.

steps

1. download windows ver of unreal from http://www.unrealircd.com
2. read the documentation
3. learn the configuration files (an example.conf file can be found in the Unreal3.2/doc folder)

Looks like it's www.unrealircd.org now.

Both .com and .org work, it's up to you which domain you choose.
