I was working on my motd earlier, I disconnected from my server rehashed and then tried to reconnect. But now I cant!!!! I just keep getting the following error.

* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)

Did I cause some kind of error with the motd? I tried just leaving it blank but that didn't do anything either.

Thanks.

No, your motd has most probably nothing to do with it. Are you sure your server is still running?

Yes, I'm looking at the little red "u" in the taskbar right now. I tried using another computer in the house thats connected to dialup and I couldn't connect to the network with that computer either.

Can you connect locally?

What kind of connection to the internet does the server have?

I tried connecting on the computer that the network is on, doesn't work. I have a DSL, the server has a 3mbit/512kbit connection.

If you can't connect on the server locally, something's terribly wrong.
Try to restart unrealircd... (if you didn't do that already :()

I've tried restarting unreal like 8 times already. It could be my connection, the IP address my router keeps giving me continues to change.

I wanted to test something so I tried using the other computer which is on dial-up in my house. But when I try to connect I keep getting a connection timed out error, but its weird because my friends seem to be able to connect so I dont know whats going on. I'm able to connect to other irc networks so I dont think its the connection. I recently changed the name of my network and get a new dyndns server name if that has anything to do with it. I'm also having the same problem I had earlier, I can connect fine when I use 127.0.0.1 but when I try using the dyndns name it wont connect. I tried pinging the dyndns name it comes back at 63ms so I know its working. I thought I solved the problem earlier from my first post by fixing my ip address but it has seemed to come back again.

Thanks.

Does the IP resolve correctly on the dialup?

You can't connect to your dyndns name from your internal network. Using that name won't work (it will only connect you to your router, not your server). That's why you only could connect using 127.0.0.1. You were also not pinging your server but your router.

And now please show us your listen blocks. You have to listen on *, not on your dynamic IP.

My listen ports are 6667, 8067, and 7029. I've connected to my dyndns name within my network all the time. My dyndns name is pointed to my external ip address which starts out as 66.122.x.xx
