Mute?

I was wondering if theres something like a mute command, something that would mute the user not allowing him/her to talk to anyone in pm or in a channel except for talking to to an ircop. I've tried using the shun command but its not exactly the same thing.

Thanks.

There's no such feature.
It could probably be done in a module. Sounds like an interesting concept, too... some sort of "semi-shun". :D

angrywolf has something that may do what your looking for, his courtroom module.

http://www.angrywolf.org
This module has two functions: the first allows you to simulate courtrooms (users aren't allowed to part these kind of channels), the second one implements the user quarantine system (people being quarantined are allowed to join only courtrooms and do private conversations only with IRCOps). The purpose of both features is to have a better control over problematic users while a discussion between them and the IRCOps is being done on networks where courtrooms are tried and true methods.

I believe the courtroom modules do not work with 3.2.3.

I got this in an email:
courtroom.c ( Warning )

courtroom.c:93:1: warning: "IsSkoAdmin" redefined
In file included from courtroom.c:11:
../include/struct.h:662:1: warning: this is the location of the previous definition
If anyone is willing to fix it, please send me an email with the fixed module.

syzop has taken over a lot of work for his modules, maybe he can help. I would try to fix it, but i don't know C.

Personaly, i don't use it. If a person is causing problems in pm's or across several channels, a kill usualy sorts them out.

I don't know if Syzop will be willing to take over courtroom... It seems something he would probably completely redo as a paid module due to its complexity.

courtroom was in AngryWolf's "experimental" section for a reason, and that is because it was likely to be fairly buggy and not work some of the time.

True. Besides, it was a suggestion :)

I'm surprised a command like this doesn't exist. On other networks like espernet and sorcerynet they have commands that mute people. Allowing them only to talk to irc operators and in the administrative help channel. And when your whois the person who has been muted you usually see the follwing, "This user has been muted". Seeing that this command is used by several networks I thought there would be one for unreal.

Maybe if you get a better description, like something more precise, you can make a feature request on http://bugs.unrealircd.org

That link redirects to a login that doesn't seem to work.
