Okay i posted about this problem earlier on in the month and it was resolved to using a module for anope to synch the clocks and even running NTPd on the servers the ircds are run on. Well we have a little problem.....

Code: Select all

[09:14pm] « global from OperServ: Magician used TSSYNC to sync all server's TS (TS: 1111893303)
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Server=Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net TStime=1111893311 time()=1111893312 TSoffset=0
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Server=Vangic.SmoothIRC.Net TStime=1111893309 time()=1111893328 TSoffset=-16
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Server=Ultimate.SmoothIRC.Net TStime=1111893310 time()=1111893328 TSoffset=-16
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Notice -- TS Control - U:line set time to be 1111893325 (timediff: 0)
[09:15pm] « global from OperServ: Magician used TSSYNC to sync all server's TS (TS: 1111893325)
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Server=Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net TStime=1111893326 time()=1111893328 TSoffset=0
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Server=Vangic.SmoothIRC.Net TStime=1111893328 time()=1111893343 TSoffset=-15
[09:15pm]  « Unlimited.SmoothIRC.Net : *** Server=Ultimate.SmoothIRC.Net TStime=1111893328 time()=1111893343 TSoffset=-15
Well the admin of the box that ultimate and vangic are run off of doesn't even know what NTPd is?!? I pointed him in the direction of information websites and even where he can download it but he just brushed me off and ignored me. So what do i do? Thanks for your help. All boxes are the latest FreeBSD and all servers are running 3.2.3.
Regards,
Matt

Tell them to get a clue? :p

I've actually heard that SVSTIME does nothing, and can actually exacerbate the problems.

Well i've tried to point him to a link that explains what NTPd is and where to download it but he ignores me and tells me that he doesn't know what i'm talking about. Is there *anything* else that i can do?

I'm also having problems with the ircd dc'ing/splitting from the network... i have no idea if it is shell related or configuration related.

Not that I can think of, no. (although there are other programs that can sync time)

On that note, I can't understand why bad TS is causing splits. We had 3 servers, all with MAJOR TS issues for months, and we didn't have splits. Just ban issues and stuff :P
