IP# Mismatch problem..

Post by evrensev »

[09:25] -anet.turkirc.org- IP# Mismatch: 83.110.133.35 != de25369.alshamil.net.ae[233da5d9]

This thing is nearly flooding in status. What is it exactly and how can i get rid of it?

This error occurs due to an error in the DNS configuration of alshamil.net.ae.

The IP 83.110.133.35 resolves to de25369.alshamil.net.ae but the host de25369.alshamil.net.ae points to the IP 217.165.61.35.

You can get rid of it by
  1. Explaining it to alshamil.net.ae and let them fix it (oh well... :?) or
  2. removing the "junk" snomask (/mode evrensev +s -j) from your user modes. (The errors will still occur but you won't see them.)
If you don't make mistakes, you aren't really trying.

It could also be someone actively trying to hide his/her IP when connecting. I still get a kick out of one connection on my server, the IP resolved to "localhost"
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

if you wish to keep the junk snomask on and you use mIRC you can use the following to filter it out

Code: Select all

on ^*:snotice:*IP? Mismatch? *.*.*.* != *: haltdef
