Blocking Join messages

I find this quite enjoying where you can see who is joining the irc server and what not but my friend does not. Is there a way to block this from sending it to certain users and not me.
e.g.[06:40] -> : Notice -- Client connecting on port 6667: Cmdr_Ejay ([email protected]) [clients]
