ok so i use the bot to ban a user and this is what happens

( 2:48:22 ) ( @Buzzbomb ) !kb SoLo^WaRRioR
( 2:48:22 ) :::: ( ¤ ) Channel Mode: Valo sets mode ( +b ) to *!mcmahonj05@*.E1500DAC.51D7043.IP in #lobby
( 2:48:22 ) :::: ( ¤ ) Kicks: SoLo^WaRRioR was kicked from #lobby by Valo [ Requested ]
( 2:48:22 ) :::: ( • ) Joins: SoLo^WaRRioR ( [email protected] ) joined #lobby

they can rejoin right after they are banned where can i fix this issue?

thanks in advance

The host of the user does not match what was banned. Make sure the cloak keys are the same on all your servers.

Bans not working

Hey,

Is this the only case where bans don't work? Even if all of the cloak keys are the same on a network, and assuming that no bug is the cause of this, is there any other reason (at all) that could be the problem for bans not working?

thanks in advance

The ban script is broken and banned the wrong user(s).

Let's all go for a lesson in simple ban evasion:
Jellobomb wrote:( 2:48:22 ) ( @Buzzbomb ) !kb SoLo^WaRRioR
( 2:48:22 ) :::: ( ¤ ) Channel Mode: Valo sets mode ( +b ) to *!mcmahonj05@*.E1500DAC.51D7043.IP in #lobby

The green is what matches, the red is what doesn't.

Either this is the most basic ban evasion, or the cloak keys are wrong, or the bot's script is just plain screwed up.

I thought it best to reply here instead of starting a new topic...

I'm basically having the same problem. My two cloak words over two servers are "Alpha" and "gamesadvantage". Here's me banning myself..

(05:04:47) —› mode: (Whitey) sets mode (+b *!*@Alpha-BB7557C5.eburwd1.vic.optusnet.com.au)
(05:04:47) —› This (*!*@Alpha-BB7557C5.eburwd1.vic.optusnet.com.au) ban affects: (@Whitey`)
(05:04:48) —› kick: (Whitey`) was kicked by (Whitey) (test (272))
(05:04:49) —› join: (Whitey`) ([email protected])
(05:05:17) —› mode: (Whitey) sets mode (+o Whitey`)
(05:05:22) —› mode: (Whitey`) sets mode (+b *!*@gamesadvantage-BB7557C5.eburwd1.vic.optusnet.com.au)
(05:05:22) —› kick: (Whitey`) was kicked by (Whitey`) ((273))

First ban simply doesn't work. The second one sticks and he stays banned.

Interestingly enough, when I look from my "Whitey`" screen, the first ban shows up as "Alpha" - even though "Whitey`" is on the gamesadvantage server.

(Sorry about the crappy logs).

I can tell you it's not my script - it's been happening to ops in channels everywhere. As far as I remember the hidden host prefix doesn't have to be the same across the network, does it?

I'm running out of ideas now - Thanks for the help guys.

Yes it does, otherwise you get exactly the same problem as mismatched cloak keys. Fix the prefix.

Hmm, I was sure I'd seen it done somewhere else.

Thinking back now, I think it was the subdomains on the servers I was thinking of =/.

Thanks tons aquanight, it all seems to run clockworky now :).
