Unable to resolve hostname.

Post by Sirius »

Since I've reinstalled UnrealIRCd, (to fix a /rehash crash) the IRCd is unable to resolve hostnames.
Users get this message on connecting:

*** Couldn't resolve your hostname; using your IP address instead

This also makes connecting very very slow. How to resolve? Does someone know?

If you don't make mistakes, you aren't really trying.

Seeing I was the one that sent you here...

The output of '/quote dns i' gives you the IP of the nameserver that is in use. This should have been the IP of your nameserver. You can compare the IP with the IP of the nameserver that is outputted by the 'ipconfig /all' DOS command.
If the nameserver IP's are not the same (the one from ipconfig /all in DOS and the one from /quote dns i in Unreal), then something is wrong. [Unreal takes this nameserver info from the registry btw]

You said to me privately that this IP from '/quote dns i' was your own IP, that sounds a bit odd... unless you are running a DNS server ;).
