UnrealIRCd 3.2.5. no longer is able to run as a windows "Service" after tonight's patches! I tried to submit this as a bug but it was too complicated, my login didn't work, yada yada yada...

...anyway, If I'm correct on this error, I think this is and will be some major issue for many servers.

Please do check this issue ASAP,
I DO hope I'm way wrong! I hate delivering bad news.
:?

Thanks.

Take a wild guess what my next question will be...... :P
What windows version are you on? 2000/xp/2003? 32 bit? 64 bit?

Have you checked your junk folder and all?
I could reset your account again if you'd like.

Thanks for the answer. True, sorry, I forgot.

Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition ( Not R2 )

Although, I think the coders of UnrealIRCd should atleast check their application one a month on all windows versions, it's easy to setup a virtual PC for testing.

It's weird that I have this problem though, I hope I'm the only one! *lol* since it seems like a nasty error. The problem is that I don't get any error log or anything at all, so it's hard to trace the error.

It's ok, I'll keep to this forum instead, thanks for the help though.

Ok well I got enough info from you now. I saw some info somewhere that the patch you are probably talking about affects 2003 (32 & 64 bit) and XP (64 bit only) :).

WORKAROUND: Dont run it as a service (in the Unreal3.2 directory: 'unreal uninstall').
WORKAROUND2: Uninstall this great fixed patch

This forum is not for bugreports so I'll lock this thread before it gets out of hand.

This bug is now known as #3062

UPDATE: Nobody else seems to be able to reproduce this bug, so it's likely there's no bug here at all. If nobody confirms it on the bugtracker within 2 weeks, the bugreport will be closed as 'unable to reproduce'

I think the UnrealIRCd coders should code.

I think the UnrealIRCd coders shouldn't spend hundreds of dollars to buy commercial OS's (I, for one, don't have 2003, nor XP).

I think the UnrealIRCd testers team (and other RC testers), are there for testing.

And even then, I tend to disagree.. It could have taken like 30 days for next test to catch this one, we can also rely on users. We do test (well, the testers team) on tons of OS's every release, of course.

Anyway, thanks for the report, I've added the bugreport myself, but this is not something people can count on all the time :P.
