Hey,,
I have Micorosft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition installed on XP Prof.
Now I've downloaded the latest version of Unreal
and trying to compile it on my Windows.

I enter the Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt
and redirect to Unreal directory then type :

nmake -f makefile.win32

and get this message

open explorer and see if makefile.win32 is really there. If not, re-download the source because it's definitely included.

Yes, it is. I retrieved my copy from the same place you did.

Instead of sending me (and possibly others) messages containing nothing but a link to this thread, have you considered the following:

• Did you check to see if the files all extracted properly from the archive?
• Did you get a directory listing and verify the files extracted to the directory you're in?
• Did you try re-downloading the archive after reading katsklaw had no trouble with it?
• Have you tried downloading from a different mirror?

I don't know what you expected by messaging me. If I had something useful to say I would have done so. Instead you got the same stuff everyone else is saying.

lets take it as philosophy issue and start with the last point u mentioned

I think Mr.Stealth if really you do not like people waste your time you had not to reply or answer my question:)
second, am not sure about your studies' degree.. perhaps you got Prof. or something that you have no enough time to waste your time
if so, i'll be so glad to know what kind of degree you hold.

third, if you not willing any-member to waste your time,, so why is there a forum totally? isn't it for helping newbies like me?:)

fourth,with regards to PM like "4" users/admins it does not mean that am flooding/annoying like other guys do in IRC.
if you toke a course in statistics i believe that u've studied that 1 quad of 4 people nowadays are ready to answer you.

so i toke with this statistic to be sure that my Q. will be answered later by one quad of 4 users.
do I have to wait 2 days till my answer get answered? (i think its wasting my-time as yours)

lastly,i assume that i attached a picture that shows what kind of problem i've which is talking about missing file called makefile.win32
its so clear as sun's rays

i've been using WinRar since i was in my-Mom's stomach ,, my 3 years old sister knows how to extract files(of packed file) by Winrar



lets say that i knew the problem its about the mirror itself, u should replace the link of correct "full zipped file" and its on main webpage of UnrealIRCD website.

the problem is NOT with the mirror, I also stated that I got the download from the SAME mirror you have and I have the file. I unpacked my archive with 7zip and not winrar. But the fact remains that I have and have always had makefile.win32, so there *must* be something somewhere at your end. I have downloaded this tarball now 5 different times from the same mirror and all 5 times makefile.wi32 is there. I've unpacked now with both 7zip AND winzip.

Download sites don't send 1 archive to 1 users and a different one to everyone else. Everyone gets the same tarball.

As far as your wait time, you will have to wait until you are helped. That is part of the FREE SUPPORT! You are lucky to get support at all. Support by staff is not mandatory! It's voluntary. If you'd like to hire me I'll insure you have less than a 1 hour turn around time 24/7, if not you will have to settle for the free support just like everyone else. Just wanna you guys believe me that the file does not appear in the list of packed files in WinRaR.
because of that>> to ensure my saying i attached two pictures, one picture that shows the error of missing file while compiling and the other before compiling just when downloading it.

as i said I AM NOT USING THIS Program for the first time in my life,
i used it before and using it now and will be using it after decades.

the file makefile.win2 simply does not appear, either it's missing or hidden.
also perhaps winrar does not show all files.

am not sure about the reason.

"DO NOT USE WINRAR ANYMORE" (its a good advertising method)
Just 7-zip (lol)
i've been downloading Unreal3.2.8 100 times(one by one) looking and seeking for the file not founding it.


till i tried to use 7-zip and here is the result.

I knew it wasn't the mirror and at your end I just didn't have the access or enough information to tell you exactly where at your end.

I really am glad you got it worked out and I'm sorry about the rant it's just reading your last post in reply to stealth made me feel like I didn't count for crap since I'm not an "official" member of the Unreal team. Which is why I tapped out of the thread.

If you need any other help, just ask and remember free support can happen in 38 minutes or 72+ hours. You just have to be patient.
