What are the exact build dependencies for UnrealIRCd 3.2.8.1 (latest version) on *nix? Extra points if you specify what packages are needed for SSL.

Edit: I've already searched in the UnrealIRCd docs, the FAQ, these instructions, and Googled it.

Just run ./Config and it will tell you what's missing.

I'm able to compile UnrealIRCd; I'm asking this because I want to create a Debian package for it.

It seems to me that would be a very bad idea. Unreal is already packaged in a manner the development team wishes it to be. Even with good intentions, your package would still be viewed in my humble opinion as a modified version. Not to mention support and a potential repeat of backdoors etc ...

As-is, Unreal is already easy to install. I really don't see a need for any port/deb/pkg of any sort. Larger, more complex applications are fine as ports/pkgs and even as portable binaries.I just don't see Unreal's 3 step install process as taxing enough considering the logistical and support nightmare that could spawn.

Just my opinion.

"a modified version" which is still, nonetheless, permitted as per the GPL on which this software is licensed by.

Indeed, but we do not support modified versions and your users will run here for support first since it's still Unreal, it'll easily get confused as an "Official Release". As you can see, this topic is already getting complicated. :(
