I have configured my irc server, uploaded all required files to my vps and started the server using ./unreal start.
I get this message:

* Loading IRCd configuration ..
* Configuration loaded without any problems ..
* Loading tunefile..
* Dynamic configuration initialized .. booting IRCd.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However when I attempt to connect using mIRC i get the message:

* Connecting to ************** (6667) " ***** - where the host ip goes"

* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)
-
* Connect retry #2 ************* (6667)
-
* Unable to connect to server (Connection timed out)
-
* Connect retry #3 ************* (6667)

This goes on infinetly until I end the connection.

I am just trying to make an iRC server for me and some friends so any help would be greatly appreciated

It's hard to help you when you hide important information like the IP you are attempting to use.

Lets reverse the perspective:

"In order to fix this problem, just ******** to the ****** and that should produce ********. It only takes about 2 minutes"


That said, please reply with your listen blocks without hiding the IP and your irc clients logs without hiding the IP. There are way too many points of failure that could be involved to play hiding games.

If you are worried about IP exposure, well welcome to IRC administration. Exposing your IP is required for users to connect.
